In recent years, more and more new immigrants and refugees from different countries have come to Europe for various reasons. With the integration into the labor market being an essential prerequisite for these people to be capable of building up a new life in their host countries, the recognition of their formally but especially their non-formally and informally acquired qualifications and competences is decisive.
The SCOUT-project therefore developed a practicable toolkit for counsellors working with new immigrants providing different instruments for competence assessment that are tailored to new immigrants and that will help them access education, training or work. An adapted version of the ProfilPASS makes up the core of the toolkit. This version is not only distinguished by being available in Simple Language but also by its new layout with visualization, pictograms and the like and by contentual adaptions in order to facilitate work with the ProfilPASS for new immigrants. In addition to the SCOUT-toolkit, the project develops a curriculum and a manual which will serve as a basis for conducting a training for counsellors working in adult education. 30 counsellors (5 from each partner country) will profit from the training.
A testing phase will be conducted starting January 2019 and the results will be used for the final revision of the products. In the testing phase, 120 new immigrants will benefit from a counselling with the SCOUT-toolkit.
